Mountain view in Missoula Montana

Short and Sweet

May (10th – 13th) – Billings and Missoula Montana –

I had intended to spend an extended time in Montana but cut my stay short due to some unforeseen circumstances. This is how I travel. I am able to alter plans as needed and having services like Sundance Vacations where I have been able to find last minute deals on accommodations for a fraction of the cost helps. This trip was scheduled to be short due to my having to make my way to the state of Washington to catch a flight booked to Anchorage Alaska on May 23rd. The stopover in Montana allowed me the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery and work without overextending myself and breaking up my travels to smaller increments. (5 hours from Rapid City to BIllings then 5 hours from Billings to Missoula). The ability to break the drives up, along with the time zone differences, allowed me to travel during daylight hours and still get enough rest to be ready for work the next day. My route for most of this trip was on I-90 which gave me a glimpse of beautiful Wyoming. From what I saw I understand why someone would want to retire on a ranch there. Montana wasn’t anything to sneeze at either. Because I am toying with the idea of getting a camper to travel in 2027 I am paying close attention to the various camp grounds and terrain so I am familiar with what I may run into or a good place to stop and park for a while.

Being surrounded by mountains was awe inspiring. To wake up each day and pay homage to this beauty was truly a blessing. I wonder if those who live there even take a minute to take notice of what they have? I know I took for granted my hometown for the longest until I left and experienced other places. It allowed me to be curious and open my eyes to the beauty in my own backyard. Every time I go back home I make it a point to visit as many parks and green spaces as I am able and I am never disappointed and am truly grateful to be able to do so.

Not much to share other than it is utterly beautiful in Montana and Wyoming. I felt such a calm while driving and couldn’t resist stopping at a few rest stops to take a few pictures to remember this journey.

Miles driven 720, year to date 5,380.
